Whilst significantly harder to craft, this cutting board’s premium end-grain orientation reduces blade ware compared with more affordable ‘edge-grain’ boards, ensuring your blades stay sharper for longer for a more enjoyable cooking experience. It also enables an end-grain board to be highly resilient, lasting decades with appropriate care and maintenance.
End-grain cutting boards have the wood fibers pointing upwards towards the blade, meaning the blade is not splitting the fibers with each stroke. This is in contrast to the more affordable edge-grain cutting boards, which have the fibers running across the length of the board surface, where the blade is cutting the wood fibers with each blade stroke, dulling the knife.
I ensure the highest possible quality with these boards, however, as this is a hand crafted product made of natural materials, there will be slight product variation in look, texture, and small imperfections in the wood grain. All dimensions are accurate to within +/- 1 inch.
